For a 3rd year in a row the Gamble Cup was played at Puslinch Golf and Country Club despite large protests from Scott Gamble who declared that green fees were too high and, “This fucking place is ripping us off”.
Heading into the tournament, defending champion Stephen Gamble exuded a confident stride to the first tee prior to duffing his tee shot into the out of bounds forrest area on the left.
After losing in a sudden death playoff in the previous year, Gary Gamble was determined to win the 2010 cup. His training included a practice round with Scott Gamble prior to the weekend and only having 2 beers the night before.
Not to be denied victory for a third straight year, Gary came out strong with a par on the opening hole and a bogey on the par 3 second hole.
Gary Gamble went on to win the round despite a last minute surge from Scott Gamble in the final 3 holes.
On Christmas Day that year the trophy was presented by Stephen Gamble who jokingly had the plaque for the trophy engraved with “Gerry Gamble”, 2010.
NOTE: the plaque with the incorrect spelling can still be seen today, stuck on the underside of the Gamble Cup.
