Several changes have been proposed to the Gamble Cup format for the 2014 season. Here is a list of proposed changes to be discussed at the annual family gathering on Christmas Eve:
1 – Expand the Gamble Cup by including the Gamble kids, using a modified scoring system. To give every kid competing a fair shot at winning, each player under 18 years old would automatically be given 20 points, less their age. (For example, a 13-year old player would start the round with 7 points. A 9-year old player would start the round with 11 points.) Gamble Kids would be allowed to tee-off from the red tees if they so choose and would be entitled to 2 mulligans per 9 holes.
2 – Expand the Gamble Cup by including the Gamble Ladies, using a modified scoring system. To give every lady competing a fair shot at winning, each lady would automatically be given 5 points to begin the round, would be entitled to 1 mulligan per 9 holes, and may tee-off from the red tees.
3 – Expand the Gamble Cup to “Invitational” status. Extended Family or “friends of the Gamble family” will be invited to be competitors in the match.
4 – Expand the Gamble Cup to “Open” status. Each family member will have the right to invite a guest to compete in the match.
Any changes agreed upon will be posted here. Check back soon for any announcements.
