The Gamble Cup

The 2012 Gamble Cup

For a second straight year the Gamble Cup was played at a new golf course, Brookfield in Cambridge.
Defending champion Scott Gamble went into the round having had a wildly successful batch of Pre-tournament rounds which included scores in the low 80’s. With all signs pointing to a repeat victory, the golfers began the round under a veil of sadness following the recent death of Stephen Gamble who passed away that Spring after a courageous battle with liver cancer.
The round began with opening 3 point pars from Gary Gamble and Martin Gamble and 2 point bogey performances from Jeff Gamble and Kyle Frasier.
The even match between all 5 competitors continued through the first 11 holes until the lead became insurmountable for Frasier and Martin Gamble who declared they were out and started drinking.
By the 18th hole Gary Gamble had once again found his groove and carried his lead through to a 1 point victory over Scott Gamble and a 2 point victory over Jeff Gamble who played consistently through the final 9 holes and gathered enough points to challenge for the lead on the final hole.
In his victory speech at the home of Martin and Lisa Gamble, Gary dedicated his win to the late Stephen Gamble.
